Whattanight.

I didn't post last night because I was up studying at a friend's dorm until 1:30 am! Okay okay okay, maybe not all of it was studying :) there was a lot of laughing and some talks and some study breaks... okay a lot of study breaks. But I had been studying since Sunday for this chemistry test, which of course didn't go as well as I hoped. But anyways I didn't get back to my dorm until 1:30 and I had to run in the downpour rain and it was just not fun. But yeah, that was last night so I will have yesterday's and today's devotion in this post. Sorry about it, hope you're not like mad about it. It is cold out, really cold, I decided that I'm not going to survive this winter; walking to class in the freezing windy snowy Lincoln. Not okay. I'll just bundle up so much and get hot chocolate or hot mochas everyday :).
Yesterday's devotion:
"I meditate on You in the night watches." Psalms 63:6
When you need to take  break from the busy rush of life and recharge your batteries, nothing works like meditation-- focusing your thoughts on God. Get quiet for a few moments and reflect on God's greatness, His love, and His tenderness. Imagine Him creating the earth and all that dwells on it. Think for a while about the greatness of God in your own life. What has He done for you?
It's also productive to reflect on God's character--perfectly good, perfectly just, perfectly wise. As you meditate on God and HIs attributes, you will begin to feel that you know Him better. You will gain new confidence to place yourself and your affairs in His care.
"If we bring our minds back again and again to God, we shall be gradually giving the central place to God, not only in our inner selves, but in our practical everyday lives." -Paul Tournier
This is an amazing devotion because meditating has never been something that I've thought about but when I read this passage I believe that I meditate every night. I sit in my bed in the silence and just think about God and his creations, his wonders. I end the night with prayer and thinking about how wonderful he is. My favorite line in this devotion is "God's character--perfectly good, perfectly just, perfectly wise." He is so perfect, too perfect for us to imagine, for us to comprehend. He is so perfect and wonderful and he does so much for us. He deserves our love and our meditation for him everyday.
Today's devotion:
"Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." Revelation 2:10
Eugene Peterson says that faithfulness is "a long obedience in these same direction." What a wonderful insight. Faithfulness is a virtue that can only be proven over time. It's not about who's there at the beginning, but who is still there at the end. When others go, will you stay? When others quit, will you hang on? That's the crux of faithfulness.
God has promised to be with you through every circumstance of your life--good and bad. He promises never to leave you nor forsake you. He has pledged His faithfulness. Will you be faithful to Him? Will you choose to trust Him when times are tough? Let God know that He can count on you.
"I do not pray for success; I ask for faithfulness." - Mother Teresa
This is another amazing devotion. When you pray to God you probably ask why someone close to you just got up and left, or why somebody is being mean and has done something terrible to you. It's because they are not faithful, you focus all your attention on that person not being there for you that you completely forget that the most important person is there holding your hand the entire time, He is there and He is always going to be there. Always. He will never forget you, never leave you, never abandon you like the people in your life. It is amazing to think that you deserve such a wonderful God.God is wonderful. God is amazing. God is here for you.

Here we go again.

Stressed. That is what I am going to be from now until December 17th. I am so stressed out about school holy moly! I've got a chemistry test on friday, (Please pray for me to do well :D) a paper due whenever but it is about poetry and I don't understand! A paper and two tests next week and then from there it goes downhill. Finals week is coming up and if I'm peeing my pants right now with one test and a paper how am I possibly going to be okay with 5 tests and a paper?! Wow, God will be hearing me a lot that week. But on the plus side, I had breakfast with my Dad this morning and it was lovely, eggs benedict, a cup of coffee and my pops. He talked to me about majors and stuff that is happening in my life and it was good, it was also good to be up before my class because I was ready and awake by then, maybe I should start getting up and working out before classes... My friends always make me smile though, tonight we were laughing and it was good. I'm glad I have a lot of support in my life it makes things a lot easier.
I am so ready for Hilary (my best friend since forever) to come back to Lincoln! I'm so excited, she is always the best and always makes me laugh and I miss her a whole lot, her going to college in a different state is not working out so well, I feel like I'm missing something all the time. But she will be back for Christmas break and we will see a lot of each other! yay!
Today's Devotion:
"Our only power and success comes from God" 2- Corinthians 3:5
It is God's will for you to succeed both in your spiritual life and in your daily labors. If you excel in your work but neglect your soul, you may end up with every material blessing, but find that none of it satisfies. If you are deeply spiritual but unsuccessful and struggling in your work, you will be unable to properly provide for your family. God knows that both are important.
Success in one area of your life does not guarantee success in others, so always do your best and pray over every sphere of your life. God wants to bless you in every way. He wants you to succeed.
"Three qualities vital to success: toil, solitude, prayer." - Carl Sandberg
This devotion is so important in my life right now because of course it applies! I've just talked about how stressed I am about schoolwork and then this devotion about succeeding in every aspect of my life! Wow, I know that God wants me to succeed and that is why I am going to lean on him when I get out of control stressed, I am going to talk to him and he will calm me down. Most importantly I am not going to forget my soul during finals week, I am not going to forget who I am and what I stand for. I just know that I can lean on God and lean on every person who supports me and I will survive with shining colors. And all of you who are stressed about life and things are going crazy and you feel like you have too much on your plate right now. Breathe. Pray. We are all here for you to help, support, take a deep breathe and just relax. We all stress but we need to just breathe and relax and just talk to God, he is always there to listen. God is wonderful. God is amazing. God is here for you.

A day to breathe

Today was a chill day. Went to all my classes and I'm not too stressed out about them. I did have a mini freak out about college and life but I talked to my sister and it is okay for now. I'm going to breakfast with my Daddy tomorrow morning too so I can talk to him about it also! I'm really hoping and praying that I will do good on my chem. test this friday. I really need to get my grade up and the only way is to do well on the next tests. Overall I worked out, ate a healthy(ish) dinner, volunteered, and painted my nails today and it's only 8:15!

Today's devotion:
"Jesus said, "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."" Luke 12:32
God loved you enough to send Jesus to die on the cross for you and take away the sin that separated you from Him. Now you can look forward to eternal life in Heaven.
But God doesn't stop there. As Paul asked, "He who did not spare His own Son... how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32). God loves you enough to not only give you an unbelievably wonderful future in Heaven, but to do loving things for you here and now.
God is not a stingy Father. He is lavish and generous with His love. If you've been missing out on the benefits of being His child, draw near to Him today.
"God's love is always supernatural, always a miracle, always the last thing we deserve."-Robert Horn

Today's devotion is a great message because I think a lot of us take our lives and the greatness that comes with it for granted, we don't think about where or who we get it from. It's amazing to think about what He has given us and how grateful we are to have such a wonderful God. Sometimes it is hard to think about Heaven because people argue that they have no proof that there is a Heaven. But we just have to believe and know that he is out there and he loves us to have an unbelievably wonderful future in Heaven. God is wonderful. God is amazing. God is here for you.

My new mission

I decided that I am going to start writing my devotions down and my thoughts about them. I just feel like writing down my thoughts about God makes them more special? I don't know, maybe I can put some light into someone else's eyes.
These are all devotions from God's Daily Answer- 365 devotions, devotions to renew your soul

"God's angel set up a circle of protection around us while we pray" Psalm 34:7
Some people believe that everything happens for a reason. Others think that life simply happens and God's children are touched with pain and accidents like everyone else. Who's right? That's a question that may not be answered in this life.
What can you be sure of is that God has the power to protect you and He has promised to do so. When you pray, He can do the miraculous to keep you safe. And yet, bad things do happen to good people. It is best to remember that even when you find yourself passing through the valley of the shadow of death, God will be with you. He will walk every inch of that valley with you. And together you will reach the other side.
"Those who walk in God's shadow are not threatened by the storm." Andrea Garney

My journey with this devotion book has been like nothing else, each day the devotion reminds me of something that has happened lately. Last night I was walking in a sketch area alone in the dark and I prayed to God to keep me safe, of course he did but this devotion just reminds me of that "God will be with you. He will walk every inch of that valley with you." He is so amazing in everything that he does and I am so blessed to be here because of him. I life through him everyday and he helps  me get by, even through the bad times in my life. God is wonderful. God is amazing. God is here for you.
